Media literacy is a repertoire of competences that enable people to analyze, evalute, and create messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres, and forms.
There are 8 elements of media literacy and 7 skills of media literacy, but I will just long story cut short, list down and explain one from each because this is a blog not an essay.
From the element and skill of media literacy, I think 'Ability to enjoy and appreciate media content' and 'Discover the part of the story that's not being told' are the element and skill that I agree the most. We always enjoy the media that those producer produce it with hard work but do we know how to appreciate it? We should learn how to appreciate media before we enjoy it. It's a hard work that we cannot see from the scene but it all hide behind the scene. Besides that, there are a lot of story that haven't being told by public so the skill of media literacy is going to let the public knows what is happening now so the public will knows.
Media are very powerful as we all know about it. As an example, I'm a Chinese that only know Chinese, English and Malay but I'm in love with South Korean boy band - Super Junior! I enjoy listen to their songs and performance, even their talkshow or DJ hosting although I'm not fluent in Korean, but I try to learn it step by step and listen it to improve my Korean language. It's the powerful of media that I can't imagine that I can actually learn a foreign language that I had never touch it before.
